(Hi, I'm a friend of Julie Zaveloff, I've greatly been enjoying your blog.) I just wanted to also pipe up that in Ohio, Habitat for Humanity runs a computer recycling program in which they collect computers, wipe the drives seven times, and then if they can be rehabbed, they donate them to Habitat families or affiliate offices, or sell them in the store to benefit Habitat. If the computers are beyond use, they recycle them responsibly. It's a great idea if an organization you trust is running a similar program in your city, as reusing is always preferable to recycling!
